Offers families of CF members who are (or will soon be away) on courses, temporary duty, overseas missions, restricted postings, etc. Various services that can help them cope with the absence. Before, during and after the separation.

Childcare services during an absence- Emergency and respite childcare: Up to 72 hours of emergency childcare may be provided when the family does not have enough time to apply their family childcare plan or when the plan falls through during the member’s absence.
- Drop-in daycare: Children of CF members away on duty (deployment, exercise, training course) for four consecutive weeks get 3 free half-days per month at either of our drop-in daycare centres during regular hours. The children must be between 2 months and 5 years and must not be registered in full-time daycare. The fees for a drop-in daycare at a community organization (up to 12 hours per month) may by paid it the family cannot use the MFRC drop-in daycares.
- Others: Families have access to free childcare during the monthly commander’s hour information sessions. The MFRC reimburses reasonable childcare expenses when a spouse takes part in an MFRC activity during the absence of a CF member.
Support Group
Support group for parents and spouses
If you are the spouse or parent of a deployed member, you can find understanding and support with others who are going through the same thing. You are invited to attend a group to find out more about the deployment, share your fears or simply listen if you are shy.

A volunteer who has already gone through an absence supports someone who is currently experiencing deployment and helps him/her cope. The goals are to break free of isolation, feel supported, find out how to prepare for deployment and share experiences. Sign up now!
